  5. Congratulations on selecting a PUMA Shareware product.  At PUMA we
  6. are dedicated to producing quality software that is straight-
  7. forward and easy to use so that the student can concentrate on
  8. mastering the lessons.  You can master the program in less than
  9. 5 minutes and will not find lots of switches or options to learn.

  11. Presidential FLASHCARDS will teach you facts about U. S. 
  12. Presidents.  The registered version contains lessons on terms, 
  13. vice presidents, party, order, home states, birthdays, first 
  14. ladies and  date of death.  It is fashioned around the question 
  15. and answer format of FLASHCARDS.

  22. Getting started:
  23.  
  24. At startup you will be given a choice of starting level (1 - 4).  
  25. Start with level 1 and then select level 2 after mastering it.
  26.  
  27. In some lessons where the facts are unique to a President, such
  28. as term, you will be given an option of inputting the fact or
  29. the president.  It will be easier if you start with the President 
  30. input and later try fact input.

  32. The only other thing you need to know is how to get out of the 
  33. program if you want to return to the operating system.  That's 
  34. easy, press <CTRL e> followed by <Enter>.
  35.  
  36. So you start up and are presented with a question, and you haven't
  37. got a clue.  Take a wild guess or just press the enter key.  
  38. FLASHCARD will beep and display the correct "Answer" above your 
  39. input.  The cursor then travels to the upper right corner of the 
  40. screen where it waits for you to <hit any key>.  Note the
  41. difference between your input and the correct answer and then bump
  42. a key for the next question.

  44. You will likely strike out 10 or more  times before you complete 
  45. the set successfully.  When you make a error, the question will 
  46. repeat after a few times.

  48. In each lesson, the student is presented with 4 sets of 10 cards.
  49. Each set is called a level and the program randomly selects from
  50. the 10 cards, 50 times.  The object is to complete the 50
  51. questions without incurring more that two errors (three "Strikes"
  52. and you're out).  If you get the third strike, the high score is
  53. updated and you start over.  Typically you would start with level
  54. one and repeat it until you have "Successfully" completed it 10
  55. times.

  57. At level two, you will be presented with a second set of 10 cards.
  58. At level two you work your way through the 2nd set and then the 
  59. first set (you already know these), until you have completed both
  60. sets "Successfully" 10 times.

  62. By the time you get to level 4 you will work your way from level 4
  63. level 3 to level 2 to level 1.  As you progress  through the 
  64. series, the questions seem easier.

  70. When you have mastered lesson 1 continue with lesson 2.  I like to
  71. go back and review all previous lessons after completing a lesson.
  72. The repetition and review will quickly make these facts yours to 
  73. command.

  78. lessons included with this shareware version contain 100
  79. presidential facts.  If you find these lessons useful, you are
  80. encouraged to register.  REGISTERED USERS will receive the

  83. become eligible for custom programming and discounts on other
